Dear colleagues!

For the 15th time, the Translation Forum Russia 2024 starts COLLECTING APPLICATIONS FOR PERFORMANCES!  This is not only a great opportunity to share your experience, professional observations and thoughts with your colleagues, but also a chance to try yourself as a speaker in order to understand how the people we have to translate feel in the process of speaking in order to become noticeable in a professional environment, to force yourself to “come out of the shell” of everyday individual work and feel life in a different way, … and many other ways.

The program will be held for three days, from August 16 to 18, and it will include topics of interest to all categories of participants in traditional thematic flows.

Here are some ideas:

  • Translation skills, new trends and requirements.

— The development of AI as the main threat factor for the professional career of a translator. Is it really so? What to apprehend and what to pay attention to.

— How to become a translator of fiction? Is co-authorship in a literary translation acceptable?

— New knowledge/realities and possible borrowings in translation.

— The role of public organizations and associations in promoting knowledge about the profession and the means of legal protection of translators.

  • Translation business and issues of industry self-organization.

— Mergers and acquisitions in the context of a sharp change in markets.

— Successful examples of the development of new markets. What to consider when working with a new market.

— New ways and forms of settlements with foreign counterparties.

— New organization formats and short/long-term strategies.

— Competition as an engine of development and ethical aspects of competition.                                                                                                                 

— New types of services, adaptation to new realities.

— Issues of training, motivation, and staff support.

— Conditions made by new internal trends in the development of the country’s economy.

— Gathering this year in Samara, we cannot ignore the needs of our potential customers in this region, and we will definitely organize meetings and events together with the Exporters Club and the Ministry of Economic Development and Investment, the Ministry of Tourism of the Samara region, etc.

  • Technologies in translation and localization.

— The main trends in the development of the translation industry caused by new technologies – international and Russian experience.

— New technologies: for or against?

— Domestic technologies in the field of translation. Novelty or replacement of currently unavailable Western ones. What do we have to offer?
