TFR History and Mission

Translation Forum Russia– the largest conference of translation and localization industry. Every year, it gathers from 300 to 500 participants including the representatives of various international organizations, like EC and UN Information Centre, FIT and WIPO, and so on. The first Translation Forum was held in Ekaterinburg in 2009, and in 2010 it became Translation Forum Russia and hosted over three hundred professionals from 20 countries. Three days of TFR include active discussions, meetings of translation industry representatives where they share their experience and demonstrate new technological developments in the field.  The conference will be useful for quite a wide audience: heads of translation agencies and translation departments, translators and interpreters on the staff and freelancers, lecturers and representatives of universities, translation software and interpretation equipment providers, unions of translators, authorities and publishing houses.

2010 — Ekaterinburg: 320 attendees representing 60 cities and 20 countries;
2011 — St.Petersburg: 450 attendees representing 62 Russian cities and 16 countries;
2012 — Kazan: 520 attendees representing 18 countries;
2013 — Sochi, Roza Khutor: 300 attendees representing 15 countries;
2014 — Ekaterinburg: 350 attendees representing 59 cities and 15 countries;
2015 — Moscow, ‘Radisson Royal’: 378 attendees representing 50 cities and 18 countries;
2016 — Astrakhan, Park Inn Hotel: 250 attendees representing 35 cities and 12 countries;
2017 — Ufa, Congress Hall: 313 attendees representing cities and 8 countries;
2018 — Ekaterinburg, Ramada Yekaterinburg Hotel&Spa: 435 attendees representing 47 cities and 22 countries; 
2019 — Saint Petersburg, Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia: 726 attendees representing 89 cities and 32 countries;
2020 — Online, Kazan: 280 attendees representing 55 cities and 16 countries.
2021 — Nizhny Novgorod, Marins Park Hotel Nizhny Novgorod: 290 attendees representing 44 cities and 15 countries.

2022 — Ekaterinburg, Atrium Palace Hotel: 314 attendees representing 28 cities and 6 countries.

TFR Mission

To be a permanent unified platform for the development of the translation sector in Russia. TFR participants exchange their professional experience, share their knowledge of new methods, ethical codes, professional standards and innovations working jointly in the direction of implementing them in everyday practice and working out necessary tools for the development of the industry market and establishment of civilized relations among its participants.
